Geography in South Carolina is very important in terms of seasons, landscape and temperatures. This is as important as in any other country. • Piedmont in South Carolina
  • Upstate in South Carolina

It is the lower part of South Carolina where the coastal plains lie. This region is also known as the Lowcountry. Here you will find the excess of sand, clay and silt. The region is extremely flat. Another important feature of the region is that this portion is very fertile and is excellent for agriculture. The drainage system is very good here. There are salty marshes and estuaries in this region as well. The region also boasts of various bays as well.

Sand hills are another feature when we speak of geography in South Carolina. This lies to the west of the coastal plains. This region has the remains of the old coastal sand dunes. This sand dunes were formed because may be the land had sunken or the oceans flowed higher than this level.

The Piedmont is actually a chain of eroded of mountains. The region is thin and hilly and the soil of the region is very stony. Because the soil is stony, the region is not at all suitable for any farming activity. There is a fall line near the edge of the Piedmont region. It id from this fall line that the rivers reach the coastal region. The rivers are not navigable after the fall line. The upper part of this region is known as Foothills. In this region you will find the Table Rock State Park. The Blue Ridge Mountain is also situated here.

The climate of South Carolina is said to be Humid Sub Tropical Climate. During the summers the climate is hot and humid and in the winters the climate can vary.
