Charlestown is a city located in the Charlestown County with many areas which are located in the boundaries of Berkely County and Dorchester County in South Carolina of United States. Charlestown also serves as the county seat and is the largest city of Charlestown county. There are five separate areas located in the proper city of Charlestown these include the downtown peninsula, West Ashley, John Island, Daniel Island and the Cainhoy Peninsula. The city was originally named as Charles Towne and was found in the year 1670. it got its present location in 1680. The name we call today was adopted by it in the year 1783.
